1870 census of Bath Co., Ky, Bethel precinct, enumerated 27 July, lists on p. 23 as family #134:
Goodpaster, Quiller, 39, farm laborer; Lucinda, 31; William C., 11; Varvell, Harison, 16; Rachel, 70.
I cannot find Harrison in the 1860 census. He may be a son of James Henry Varvel and his first wife Nancy Lucinda Johnson (who died before 1860), or he may have been born out of wedlock to Lucinda Varvel before she married Quiller Goodpaster. But in the 1860 census, James Varvel and his sister Lucinda were living in the same household, and James’ daughter Clarissa was there too, but Harrison was not. Sometimes children who were shuffled between relatives got missed by the censuses.
