His obituary reported “Marion Highley, 89, of Sterling Ave., Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the St. Joseph-Mt. Sterling Hospital. He was born in Bath County, Kentucky on June 16, 1922 the son of the late William and Lillie Carter Highley. He was a retired builder in the construction industry, a veteran of the US Army having served in France and Germany during World War II, a member of the First Church of God, and a member of the American Legion Post # 22 Honor Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta Estes Highley of Mt. Sterling; two sons, Michael Highley of Morehead, KY and Ronald Highley of Winchester, KY; one granddaughter, Tamara (Rob) Maybury of Shippensburg, PA and two great grandchildren, Alex and Ashton Maybury of Shippensburg, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Highley; and eight brothers and sisters, Foy Highley, Carrie Copher, Edward Highley, Chester Highley, Herschel Highley, Mabel Clark, Iva Mae Highley and Olive Banks.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating and burial following in the Machpelah Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post # 22. Friends may visit Thursday evening from 6 – 9 PM at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Bill Watson, Chester Vernon Copher, Bill Rushford, David Jones, Danny Estes and Joe David Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Setters, John C. Toy, Steve Jones and Rob Maybury. In lieu of flowers donations suggested to the First Church of God Youth Center Fund.”
