Page 6, John T. Horton died 22 June 1898. He was born in Lee Co., VA 15 Jul 1821, and joined the Deep Spring church of old Regular Baptist at the age of 12 years. He was baptized by Jonathan Bishop and in the year 1836 moved to Carter county, KY, where he united with Rock Spring church of Regular Baptist and where he lived until his death. He was a good father and a loving husband and is wonderfully missed by the church and by his friends. He died in the triumph of faith. He believed in being saved by grace alone, and he is gone to that better world where there is no death, but our loss is his gain, therefore we sorrow now as one having no hope (wrriten by) - W. L.
