Notes for James Mannin
There were three James Mannin’s in Morgan Co. of an appropriate age to be marrying in 1888:
James Alvin Mannin, born 7 Sep 1856, out-of-wedlock to Lucinda E. Mannin, daughter of Charles Mannin and Susan Whittington. (One of a set of twins, the other being Henry A. Mannin.)
James Martin Mannin, born 17 Dec 1853, son of William H. Mannin and Nancy Leach, who died 3 Sep 1918. His death certificate recorded him as single, but he may have really been divorced.
James Mannin born 8 Apr 1855, son of John D. Mannin and Ludema Ratliff. He married Mary Ann Mullins on 11 Aug 1875, and was listed with her in the 1880 census, but they do not appear in the 1900 census.
Notes for Lucinda “Lou” A. Carpenter
Her death certificate records Lou Cox, age 86, born 10 Feb 1864 in Kentucky, died 2 July 1950 in Blaze, Morgan Co., Ky, widowed, parents unknown, cause of death unknown, informant Ralph Black, burial in family cemetery, Blaze, Ky. (There was another widowed Lou Cox of nearly the same age in Morgan Co., the wife of Harvey Burns Cox, but this one can be identified as the widow of Jeff D. Cox mainly due to the informant Ralph Black, who is her son-in-law. Also, the 1900 census gave the birthdate of Jeff D. Cox’s wife Lou A. Cox as Feb 1865.)
