His WW I draft registration card, filed 5 June 1917, records Virgil Meadows, age 26, residence 428 Second Str., Middletown, Ohio, born 12 Oct 1890 in Salt Lick, Ky, employed at forge shop, American R. Mill, married supporting a wife & child.
His death certificate records Virgil Meadows, age 45 years 2 months 7 days, born 12 Oct 1891 in Salt Lick, Ky, died 19 Dec 1936 in Salt Lick, Bath Co., Ky, married, husband of Mattie Wills Meadows, occupation railroad worker, father William Meadows, mother’s maiden name Lula McCarty, both born in Salt Lick, Ky, cause of death hit by auto - driver unknown - neck broken, accident occurred on U.S. 60 between Farmers & Midland, Ky, hit and run driver, informant Arthur Meadows, Detroit, Michigan, burial in Jones Cemetery.
The reported age and birthdate are probably wrong - he was recorded as age 11 born Apr 1885 in the 1900 census. The date and age are inconsistent with each other, but it would be difficult to fit the remaining younger members of the family if he were born as late as October 1891. (This is a family for which the 1890 census would be a big help.)
His gravestone has the birthdate Oct 12, 1890.

The reported age for Hazel is probably wrong, since Virgil and Mattie were both still single living with their parents in the 1910 census.
1930 census of Genessee Co., Michigan, Flint ward 3, enumerated 4 April, lists on p. 5A as family #87/94, at West Atherton Road:
Meadows, Virgil, 44, age at first marriage 23, carpenter construction; Mattie, wife, 43, age at first marriage 22; Hazel, dau, 17. All born Ky Ky Ky.
They are sharing a household with a Rogers family (Jesse 44, no wife, daughters Gertrude 10, Juanita 8, Mildred Carter 18, and son-in-law Ross Carter 28, newlyweds.)
