Dates of birth and death are from her gravestone, which has her name as Marandy Choat.
I cannot find her in the 1850 census under her maiden name; most likely she had another husband before John Lancaster. The marriage record of her son James gives her place of birth as Bath County, but most of the Vanlandinghams were in Fleming Co. in the 1830’s through early 1850’s, and only moved to Bath Co. between 1850 and 1860.
