Her obituary in the Morehead News reported:
“Vernie Mae Staton Hall, age 102, of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
She was born March 6, 1907, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Joe and Martha Cottle Staton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Denton, Alvin, and Ray Staton, and two sisters, Lucy McKinney and Lorene Donahue.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hall, on November 27, 1966, and her son, Jack Staton.
She is survived by one brother, Arnold Staton, of Morehead, Kentucky; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hall was a homemaker and member of the Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Guy McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell McKenzie, Roy Anderson, Jackie McKinney, Tony McKinney, John Donahue, and Elbert McKinney.”
