Her obituary reported:
“Ruth L. Corlett, age 83, resident of Shelby, died Friday July 6, 2012 at Shelby Pointe.
Born April 20, 1929 in Bangor, Kentucky to W. Ray and Lizzi (Tackett) Staton, she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. Mrs. Corlett had worked at Shelby Spring Hinge Co., Miller Products and the Shelby Novelty Company. Ruth was a devout Christian and she enjoyed making crafts.
Survivors include one son, Michael Pierce of Shelby; four grandchildren, Brandi Schoonover, Heather Wilds, Charlie Gregory and Anna Jo Powers; five great grandchildren; one brother Junior (Janet) Staton, of Shelby; two sisters, Wilma Brown and Barbara Lykins, both of Shelby; one sister-in-law Maxine Staton of Shelby; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Corlett in 1983, one brother Charles L. Staton and two brothers-in-law Marvin Brown and John Lykins.
Funeral services will be held at the Barkdull Funeral Home 1:00 PM Tuesday July 10, 2012. Reverend S.T. Adkins will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery.”
