“SELF-FIRED BULLET FATAL TO MAN, 80
David A. Sergent, 80, of Blaze, was found dead sitting in a chair at his home at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, with a 22 caliber pistol wound in his right temple. The gun was lying in his lap.
Morgan County Coroner A. J. Herald and Sheriff Gene Allen ruled the death a suicide.
Sergent was found by a nephew, Fred Sergent, who made his home at the Sergent residence. The nephew reportedly had gont to the post office, returning in about 10 minutes to find his uncle dead.
He is survived by 10 children; his wife, Mrs. Ada Sergent; a sister, Mrs. Maude Cline, Shelby, Ohio, and brother, James Sergent, Blaze.
Survices conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Blaze Community Church. Burial in the Sergent Cemetery. Potter Funeral Home in charge.”
