Victoria may have been a daughter of Alex Short’s first wife Sarilda Elam. She was born before Alex and Arzella married, and she is listed with Alex and Sarilda on the 1900 census. But her memorial on FindaGrave.com reports her mother as Arzella Whitt, and the 1900 census also reports Sarilda as the mother of one fewer living child than are included in the household.
