He may have really been born in 1871 - he was recorded as age 8 in the 1880 census, with an older brother Liconey age 10. So if Edward’s birthdate is pushed back to 1870, Liconey would have to be older than 10 as well. Unfortunately, I cannot find this family in the 1870 census.
