Notes for George Ad Moore
His death certificate records Geo Ad Moore, age 37 years 8 months 9 days, born 20 Oct 1877 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 19 July 1914 in Rowan Co., Ky, married, farmer, father Geo Moore, born in Virginia, mother’s maiden name Ruthie Jane Gearhart, born in Knot Co., Ky, cause of death tuberculosis, informant John Moore, Farmers, Ky, burial in Moore Cemetery.
Notes for Rosa Brown
She is probably the same person as Rosa B. Brown, daughter of John Brown and Martha J. Jones of Elliott Co., Ky, who was listed in the 1900 census as age 12, born Apr 1888. That Rosa would be only 14 in October 1902, if the census was correct, but the census age might have been low by one year. The main objection is not the age, but the residence. Her parents were in Elliott Co. in 1900, and her widowed mother was in Carter Co. in the 1910 census, whereas the Rosa who married George Brown was reportedly living in Farmers in 1902. But it was fairly common for half-orphaned children to “farm out” as servants very young. And there is no other young Rose or Rosa Brown in Rowan Co or the surrounding counties in the 1900 census.
She may have died in childbirth, since Elmer was apparently her only child.
