1850 census of Posey Co., Indiana, Black township, enumerated 20 Aug, lists on pp. 39-40 as family #477:
Ezekiel Black, 43, farmer, b. Indiana; Mary, 22, b. N.J.; Milton, 15, farmer, b. Ky; Hugh, 9, b. Ky; George, 3, b. Indiana; Jane, 1, b. Indiana; Alvina, 13, b. Indiana.
Only George and Jane are children of Mary; Milton and Hugh are from Ezekiel’s first marriage, to Jane McClure. (His youngest son from that marriage is recorded in Morgan Co., Ky with Jane’s parents, as age 5.)
Alvina (name also seen as Elzina) is likely not Ezekiel’s daughter because (a) she is listed at the end out of age order, (b) the birthplaces of Milton and Hugh suggest that Ezekiel was in Kentucky between 1835 and 1841, and (c) in 1860 she is recorded with a Samuel Black family, also out of age order at the end.
