Fleming Co., Ky birth records list the birth of Vac’ory T. Shrout on 8 Jan 1858, father David Shrout, mother’s maiden name Melinda Atchison. (Vacory T. is probably a variation on Zachary Taylor.)
The 1860 census lists two sons, John L. age 2 and James W. age 1. Apparently they changed their name about what to call him after the birth was reported.
His death certificate records J. Lewis Shrout, age 68 years 5 months 14 days, born 5 Feb 1858 in Bath Co., Ky, died 19 July 1926 in Lee’s Summit, Prairie township, Jackson Co., Missouri, married, husband of Mrs. Eddie Shrout, retired farmer, father David Shrout, mother’s maiden name Mary A. Atchinson, both born in Bath Co., Ky, cause of death thrombus of femoral artery, informant Mrs. J. L. Shrouth, Lee’s Summit, Mo, burial in Blue Springs.
