He was listed in the 1910 census as Thomas L. Kendall, age 6 months, but all later records are under the name Lewis Edward Kendall.

His death certificate records Lewis Edward Kendall, age 31 years 9 months 21 days, born 6 Sep 1909 in Ky, died 27 June 1941 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., Ky, residence 1601 W. Ormsby Ave, married, husband of Cordilla Kendall, occupation packer, father Joe Kendall, mother’s maiden name Hester Moore, both born in Ky, cause of death stab wound left chest with knife, homicide in public place, 16th Oak, informant Cordilla Kendall, burial in Custer.

In 1920 he is listed as Lewis Kendall, age 10, servant, in Custer precinct, Breckinridge Co., Ky, farm laborer, with the family of Theophilus and Ora Bennett, both age 44. They are the parents of Cordilla Bennett, whom Lewis would later marry.

The Kentucky birth index lists Cordilli Bennett, born 14 Oct 1911 in Breckinridge Co., mother’s maiden name Lee Oliver.

I cannot find Lewis in the 1930 census. Cordilla and Naomi are recorded with her parents:

1940 census of Jefferson Co., Kentucky, Louisville ward 7, ED 121-253A, enumerated 15 April, lists on p. 12B as family #269, at 1601 Ormsby St:
Kendall, Lewis, 30, packer at scales manufacturer; Cordilla, wife, 26; Namai, dau, 12; Vechel, son, 3; Betty, dau, 1. All born in Kentucky, living in rural Breckinridge Co., Ky in 1935.
