The Kentucky birth index lists Glenest R. Bowman, born 12 Aug 1932 in Rowan Co., mother’s maiden name Dessie Roberts.
The SSDI lists Glannis R. Bowman, born 13 Aug 1932, died 5 Apr 2007, last residence Belgium, Ozaukee Co., Wisconsin.
There are two obituaries for him, both of which say he was born in Covington, which is in contradiction to the Kentucky birth index. (Covington is in Kenton Co.)
The first, on April 8, 2007 reported:
“Bowman, Glannis R. of Belgium, went to his Lord on April 5, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Loving father of Ronald (Sue), Vern Bowman and Margaret Bowman. Beloved “Grampy” of Brandy, Brooklyn and Bailey Buckholt. Dearest brother of Charles (Myrtle) Bowman, Robert Bowman, Millie Pearl (Douglas) Richie, James Bowman, Rosetta Shelton and Donna Hoeppner. Further survived by one sister-in-law Diane Bowman, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Lillian Richards, Mary Stromberg, and Wanda Bowman, and 3 brothers; Frank, Donald and Carl Bowman. Funeral services Tuesday, April 10, 2pm at Pentecostal Church of God, 17011 Hwy 55, Alvin, WI. In state at the Church Tuesday from 1-2 pm. The Bowman family wishes to thank Dr. Kenneth Jensen, Dr. Rula Al-Saghir, Sister Agnes, Chaplain Fletcher Simpson, and the caring staff of Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee and Hospice.”
The second on April 12, a week after his death, reported:
“Belgium resident Glannis Bowman died Thursday, April 5, at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospice in Milwaukee. He was 74.
Mr. Bowman was born in Covington, Ky. on Aug. 13, 1932, the son of Hatcher and Dessie Roberts Bowman.
He worked as a welder for Simplicity Manufacturing, retiring after 29 years with the company. Mr. Bowman was a member of Machinist Local 1430 and the Pentecostal Church of God in Alvin. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, square-dancing and working in his Main Street yard.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his three children, Ronald (Sue) of Merrill, Verna Bowman of Belgium, and Margaret Bowman of Merrill; grandchildren Brandy, Brookly and Bailey Buckhot of Merrill; brothers Charles (Myrtle) and James, both of Alvin, and Robert of Idaho; sisters Millie Pearl (Douglas) Richie, Rosetta Sheloton and Donna Hoeppner, all of Long Lake, and sister-in-law Diane Bowman.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Lillian Richards, Mary Stromberg and Wanda Bowman; and brothers Frank, Donald and Carl.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10, at Pentecostal Church of God in Alvin, with Rev. Herman Spencer and Rev. Charles Bowman officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Alvin. Arrangements were handled by Eernice Funeral Home in Port Washington.”
