The SSDI lists Basel Halcomb, born 24 Nov 1913, died 7 Aug 1991, last residence Knox, Starke Co., Indiana, SSN issued in Kentucky before 1951.
The 1913 date is probably the correct one, since he was recorded as age 6 in the 1920 census.

The Kentucky birth index lists Joyce Crase, born 9 Apr 1913 in Morgan Co., mother’s maiden name Sarah Perry.
Her obituary in the South Bend Tribune of 21 May 2006 reported:
“Joyce C. Halcomb, 93, of 401 West John St., Knox, IN, died at 11:08 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2006, in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox. She was born on April 3, 1913, in Blaze, KY, to the late Gardy and Sarah (Perry) Crose. On Aug. 18, 1943, in Lynch, KY, she married Basel Halcomb who preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, O.L. Robinson; three brothers, Carl Crose, Paul Crose and Augusta Fisher; two sisters, Flora Blanton and Fern Wireman; and a great-great-grandson, Brian Snowdon.
She had resided in Knox for 64 years. She was a member of the Knox First Christian Church and the Women's council of the church. She had been the secretary for the church and was in charge of the kitchen for Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include a daughter, Billie Zingareli of Knox; a son, Robert (Sarah) Halcomb of Maryville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Michaelen (Jeff) Houston, Jacqui (Doug) Crittendon, Tim Robinson, Rob (Stephanie) Halcomb Jr., and Lisa (Erick) Clendenen; seven great-grandchildren, Michelle (Rob) Snowdon, Jackie (Dewayne) Bradley, Shawn D. Crittendon, Melissa (Rick) Fairchild, Melinda (James Jr.) McCarty, Hailey Holcomb and Ryan Halcomb; and great-great-grandchildren, Kayla Snowdon, Nathanial Mathes, Bryon McCarty, Kaitlyn Bradley, Halle Fairchild, Robby Snowdon, Cody Sullivan, Brady McCarty, Joey Snowdon, Isaac Crittendon, Miranda McCarty, Shawn Sr. Crittendon, Ella Fairchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, in Barman and Son Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Ken Whiles and Rev. Charles Bachelder officiating. Burial will take place Monday at Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox.”
