His obituary reported:
“Omer R. LEWIS, 84, of 413 N. High St., died Friday, September 16, at his home. He had been ill for three years.
He was born in Blairs Mill, Ky., August 5, 1904, the son of John E. and Lou Ann (BLAIR) LEWIS.
He was married in Centreville, Mich., May 14, 1926, to Lucille TUCKER who survives.
LEWIS moved to LaGrange in 1913. He and his father operated John E. Lewis & Sons, poultry and egg buyers, in LaGrange. He later was janitor at Parkside School. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Loreen) SCHLEMMER, of LaGrange and Janie I. LEWIS of Mount Clemens, Mich.; one son, Tom R. of Kokomo; one sister, Mrs. Henry (Mildred) SCHALLER of Pearce, Ariz.; five brothers, Ora, Cameron, Clyde and Jack of LaGrange, and Richard of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Drake officiating.”
