The Davenport [Oklahoma] Leader of July 27, 1905 reported “W. E. Myers received the sad news yesterday, by phone from Sac and Fox that his brother-in-law W. W. Bailey who came out here with his family from Bath county Ky last March had died at his home 9 miles southeast of here. Mr. Myers also learns that the entire family of wife and seven children are down sick with malaria of which disease Mr. Bailey died. Mr. Bailey is about 45 years of age and had rented part of the Fred Brown farm in the low lands of Deep Fork and planted and tended an excellent crop, and up to within the past month has enjoyed excellent health. The news of his death was quite a shock to his relatives here and we join with everyone in extending condolence to the mourning ones.”
