His obituary reported:
“Lee J. Parsons, 68, 1124 S. Plate St., died at 8:10 pm Friday, March 20, 1998, in Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Center. He was born March 4, 1930, in Morehead, Ky., to Lee and Ellen (Criswell) Parsons. April 3, 1954, at Carthage, he married Marcella E. Day, who survives.
He was employed at Chrysler Transmission Plant for 32 years as a forklift driver, retiring in 1989. He was a veteran serving in the Korean War in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 685.
Also surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larkin D. and Janis Parsons of Kokomo, Terry and Leesa Parsons of Kokomo, and Melvin Parsons of Kokomo; four grandchildren, Marc Parsons, Bradley Parsons, Ryan Parsons, and Destini Parsons; five half brothers and three sisters-in-law, George and Nora Parsons of Union City, Kenneth Parsons of Mansfield, Ohio, Phillip and Betty Criswell of Holland, Mich., Lawrence and Elene Criswell of Holland and James Criswell of Windfall; four half sisters and brothers-in-law, Lou Ann and William Gulley of Richmond, Ithel and Ernest Caudill of Richmond, Hester and Norman Shelby of Fortville, Inez and Tom Hall of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
One grandchild preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. The Rev Allen Krieg and the Rev. Ken Byland. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery.”
The obituary mistakenly reported the maiden name of Lee’s mother Ellen Butler; Criswell was the name of her second husband.
