There is a death record in Carroll Co., Va, that is probably for her, but some of the elements are problematic. It records Rachel Dudley, age 85, died 13 June 1890, married, parents Ezra & Texannia, informant parents.

The problem elements are (1) Rachel Steele Dudley was either widowed, or not surnamed Dudley - it is unlikely that she married another Dudley between 1880 and 1890, (2) her parents were dead and thus could not be the informant, (3) parents of married or widowed women were not usually listed in this register without a surname, and (4) it would be quite a coincidence that Rachel’s parents had the given names Ezra and Texanna, when those are the names of her daughter and son-in-law with whom she was living. Most likely it is her death record, but the marital status, parent and informant fields are incorrect, with Ezra and Texanna being incorrectly listed in the parent column when they were actually the informants.

In 1870 Rachel is recorded with her daughter Texanna and son-in-law Ezra Turman as Rachel Dudley, age 65. In 1880 she is recorded with them as Rhacal Dudley, 70, mother-in-law, widowed, b. Va Va Va.

Pulaski Co., Virginia marriage records list the marriage on 25 May 1843 of Jonathan Dudley and Rachel Steele.
