Notes for William Roscoe Quessenberry
His obituary in the Modesto Bee of 29 Nov 2005 reported:
“Roscoe Quessenberry, 94, of Modesto died Friday at Valley Comfort.
Mr. Quessenberry was a native of Helena, Ark. He had lived in Modesto since 1931 and previously lived in Coffeeville, Kan. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in his youth. He worked for People's Cash Store and Arnaploe Meat after moving to Modesto, and worked for Ludwig Andre in the mid 1930s. In 1956, he bought a bar and restaurant and named it Roscoe's. He was a member of Elks Lodge and former member of Old Fisherman's Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his children, Rodney Quessenberry and Patricia Mark, both of Modesto; brother, Ira Quessenberry of Lodi; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bess Quessenberry; and four brothers and a sister.”
