An articile in The [Portland] Oregonian of Wed, June 30, 1943 reported:
“Corporal Sends War Souvenirs - An assortment of souvenirs from the war front in New Guinea, including Japanese invasion currency ranging from 1 cent to 10 shillings in denomination, a collar ornament from the uniform of a Japanese first class private, a piece of metal from a Jap plane and a .25 caliber Jap machine gun bullet, have been received by Dexter Quesinberry, 1522 N. Portland boulevard, sign painter for the Electrical Products corporation, from his son, Corporal T. Don Quesinberry, attached to the medical staff of the 162nd infantry.
Corporal Quesinberry, who was 21 years old in January, has been in the service for three years and was a member of the Oregon national guard before war was declared. He graduated from Jefferson high school. His father states his son is engaged to a pretty Australian girl who corresponds with him and Mrs. Quesinberry, who is working in a war plant in San Francisco.
