His obituary in the Peoria Journal Star of Nov. 11, 2011, as posted on his FindaGrave memorial, reported:
"ROANOKE, IL - Paul H. Steenrod, 101, of the Apostolic Christian Home, Roanoke, formerly of Eureka, Ill., passed away at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at the home in Roanoke, Ill.
He was born Oct. 17, 1910, in Hinton, Ky., to Charles and Norah (Switzer) Steenrod. He married Dorothy Quinn on May 26, 1934, in Henry, Ill. She passed away Oct. 17, 1996.
Surviving are his children, Sheila (Russ) Aikin of Lansing, Mich., and Charles (Barb) Steenrod of Roanoke, Ill.; grandchildren, Ken Steenrod, Deb (Mel) Nielsen, Kim (Scott) Edwards, Kevin (Teresa) Roeschley and Kerri Roeschley; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Paul also is survived by one sister, Ruth Steenrod of Bureau, Ill.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Paul was a railroad yardmaster, working for the Rock Island Railroad for 48 years. He was a charter board member for Youth for Christ in Peoria, where he was the first recipient of the Faithful Servant Award, a former board member of Peoria Rescue Mission, and an active participant in numerous Christian organizations. He was a member of Grace Bible Church in Washington, Ill.
Being a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Paul practiced what he preached. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and had celebrated his 100th birthday at O'Brien Field in Peoria.
Private family graveside services will be held at Henry City Cemetery."
