Her obituary on the Lane-Stuckey Funeral Home web site reported:
“Mrs. Anna McClain Stamper (“Granny Annie”), 69, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky on April 5, 1941, a daughter of Alice Fogleman McClain and the late Luther McClain.
Mrs. Stamper was a private caregiver and homemaker. She was of the Nazarene Faith and enjoyed reading the Bible, working crossword puzzles, camping, talking with her friends and spending time with her grandkids.
Anna was a very active Auxiliary Member of the Morehead American Legion Post No.126.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Stamper, Sr., and one sister, Mary Emmajean McClain.
Survivors include her mother, Alice Fogleman McClain of Morehead, one son, John R. Stamper, Jr. of Morehead, five daughters, Jennifer Wallace and Kathy Davis both of Morehead, Debbie Goodman (Robert Durham) and Janet (Richie) Caskey both of Clearfield and Robin (Scott) Nicholson of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, one great-grandson, whom she raised and considered her son, Dillon Boyd of Morehead, five brothers, Clarence “Crickett” McClain, Luther “Bud” McClain, Tom McClain, Paul McClain and Bobby McClain all of Morehead, seven sisters, Lavena Scott, Wanda Carter, Louise Fraley, Faye Skeens, Katie May, Esther McClain and Nina Thomas all of Morehead, thirteen grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, 2011 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Pastor J. R. Gullett and Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stamper Cemetery in Elliott County.”
