Her given name is spelled variously as Joann, Joan, Joanne, Joanna, Joe Ann, Jo Ann, Ann, Anne, Anna, and Annie.
Although she remarried after her first husband James Crawford died, there is a stone next to his with the inscription “J. C.”, with no dates, possibly hers. (Another possibility is that it was a footstone for James that fell over and was put back up in the wrong place.)
