Her death certificate records Mary Elizabeth Barber, age 86 years 7 months 12 days, born 23 Apr 1861 in Ky, died 9 Nov 1945 in rural Fleming Co., Ky, widow of Jno J. Barber, father Andrew McKinney, mother’s maiden name Elizabeth Rice, both born in Ky, cause of death fractured hip, informant George Barber, Flemingsburg R. 3, burial in Fairview.

She was probably really born earlier. She is recorded in the 1870 census as age 11, in the 1880 census as age 20, and in the 1900 census as age 42 born Apr 1858. She does not appear in the 1860 census, but that is not a contra-indicator to a birth in 1859 or 1860 because the 1860 listing of the family is manifestly incomplete. It is also missing sons Campbell, born 30 Dec 1853 according to the Bath Co. birth records and listed as 16 in 1870, and William McKinney listed as age 13 in 1870.
