Her obituary in the Roanoke Times of Aug. 16, 2005 reported:
“Lida M. Marshall of Hillsville, widow of Marvin E. Marshall, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2005 at Twin County Regional Hospital at the age of 90. Mrs. Marshall was born December 10, 1914 to the late William Lee and Laura Alice Dickens Marshall in Carroll County. She is survived by one brother, Estell Marshall of Galax; one sister, Idell McElrath of Raleigh, N.C.; caregivers, Donald and Ala Deane Bowman, Avonelle Jackson, and Pat Hall; special friend of 67 years, Stella Howlett of Hillsville; sisters-in-law, Angella Marshall of Hillsville, Cordellia Vaughan of Hillsville, Christine Rakes of Laurel Fork, and Alene Wiggens of Ridgeway, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. The Rev. Clarence Marshall will officiate. Burial will follow in the Jonah Marshall Cemetery.”
