Notes for Mary “Polly” Bond
She is buried under a double gravestone with her husband Jesse. The dates on her stone say 1816-1900, but it was erected in 1996 in a cemetery refurbishment project, and the dates are only guessed at.

1850 census of Carroll Co., Virginia, district 11, enumerated 2 Aug, lists on p. 25 as family #189:
Jessee R. Marshall, 32, farmer, b. N.C.; Polly, 32, b. N.C.; Emily, 10 Calvin, 9; John, 7; Stephen, 5; Unice L, 2. All children born in Virginia.
Also on the same page are families headed by Jesse’s brothers Abraham, Thomas, and John, as well as Barton Smith who is married to his sister Polly. This suggests that perhaps the siblings are all living on land formerly owned by their parents (who are listed 9 pages back.)
All of their wives are also incorrectly recorded as born in North Carolina.
