His death certificate records Russell C. Ramey, age 28 years 9 months 28 days, born 20 Feb 1915 in Moorehead, Kentucky, died 18 Dec 1943 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio, length of stay two days, usual residence Shiloh, Richland Co., Ohio, occupation fork lift & crane operator, employer army supply depot, married, husband of Armalta Ramey, father Grover Ramey, mother’s maiden name Mattie Armstrong, both born in Kentucky, cause of death acute carbon monoxide poisoning, accident, occurred 5 Dec 1943, due to motor exhaust, informant Mrs. Russell Ramey, Shiloh, Ohio, burial in Licking Union, Kentucky.
His brother Roy also died of carbon monoxide poisoning the day before, and his certificate says that the accident occurred on 16 Dec 1943 and that his length of stay was 1 day. Considering that Russell is said to have been in the hospital 2 days, I wonder if the reported accident date of 5 Dec 1943 is incorrect, and they both were in the same accident on the 16th?
