Kash, Bethel, 54, divorced, age at first marriage 15, b. Ky VA NC, farm operator; Shelby, 23, single, grade school teacher; Paul, son, 19. Both sons born Ky Ky Ky.
When Reese died in 1922, he was recorded as married, not divorced. So either his marital status was wrong on his death certificate, or Bethel’s is wrong here, or they did divorce shortly after the 1920 census was taken and then Reese remarried between 1920 and 1922, or they were married when Reese died, and then Bethel remarried and divorced her second husband sometime between 1922 and 1930. I suspect the last hypothesis is most likely, because it requires no recording errors and a less compressed time schedule.
