“John Mason Hager, 77, of High Springs, Florida, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born in Menifee County, Kentucky on June 27, 1934 to parents John Washington and Lillie (Slusher) Hager.
John retired from Harrison Radiator in Moraine and after moving to Florida he volunteered at the VA Medical Center in Lake City, Florida. John loved bluegrass music and was a member of "The Foggy Mountain Boys", who played on Poor Abe's Radio Show on WPFB and he also played music at church.
Mr. Hager is survived by his wife, Wanda (Hatch) Simmons Hager; sons, Dennis W. Harden, Donald Lee (Pamela) Harden, David (Kathy) Harden, Carter Hager, Roger (Nancy) Hager, Arthur (Susan) Hager & Richard E. (Katherine) Simmons; daughters, Joyce (Wayne) Mount, Judy (Bob) Sexton, Jenny Lee Anderson & Joan (Gary) Applegate and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Orphia Geneva Hager in 2001; son, John Mason Hager Jr.; grandson, Garrett Mason Applegate; parents; and brothers & sisters, Cephus, Honas & George Hager, Stella Hasty, Mertle Conway, Edna Wilburn, Alma Dennis & Rachel Johnson.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.”
