Note: There was an Elizabeth Adams born ca 1817, died 6 Nov 1892, daughter of Isaac and Exony Adams, who was married to a different John Akers (born ca 1812, died before 1860) in Patrick Co., Virginia. They are often confused because Ancestry.com “suggests” the death record for the other Elizabeth Akers when viewing census records for this one, and many researchers attach that death record, and maiden name, to their tree for the descendants of John Jackson Akers. Both Elizabeth Akers, however, appear separately in the 1850 through 1880 censuses in their respective counties, with a different set of children.

Montgomery Co., Virginia marriage records list the marriage on 24 Jan 1846 of John J. Akers and Elizabeth Carrell. (This is may be a second marriage for Elizabeth, considering that she was older than John.)

1880 census of Floyd Co., Virginia, Alum Ridge district, enumerated 5 June, lists on p. 7 as family #60:
