Her obituary in the Wabaunsee County Signal of 26 Oct 2006 reported:
“Nina Cathleen Diehl, 91, lifelong resident of Alma, Kansas, died Wednesday morning, October 18, 2006, at Valley Vista Good Samaritan of Wamego.
Born on July 13, 1915 in Yocum, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Lynn Boyd and Alma (Roberson) Lewis. She attended schools in Kentucky, Cincinnati and Kansas City.
On November 14, 1933 she married George Diehl Sr., in Merriam, Kansas. He preceded her in death June 2, 1976.
Mrs. Diehl was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Alma, The Ladies Reading Circle, Peace United Church of Christ Women’s Guild, The Golden Girl’s Card Club, The Church Choir, and Cup of Love Alma Group Home. She was also a very talented writer and won several contests for her short stories and had many published. Nina was known for her great sense of humor. She spent much of her time with her Church Quilting Guild.
Survivors include; her sons, George Diehl Jr. and his wife, Vona, of Alta Vista, Kansas, Darwin Diehl and his wife, Joyce, of Alma, Kansas, and Frank Diehl and his wife, Shelly, of Lawrence, Kansas; her daughters, Glenda Lee and her husband, Terry Daniel, of Huntington Beach, California, and Diana Trudo and her husband, Chris, of Wamego, Kansas; her grandchildren, Terry, Mark, Lesa, Amy, David, Corry, Cady, Ashley, Jessica, and Ryan; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Diehl was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Debbie Perryman.
Services were held at Peace United Church of Christ in Alma on Saturday, October 21, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed in Alma City Cemetery. A family visitation was held Friday, October 20, 2006, from 6-8:00 p.m.
