Her death certificate records Waneda Moore, age 6 months 24 days, born 8 Feb 1927 in Rowan Co., died 22 Sep 1927 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, father Claud Moore, born in Rowan, mother’s maiden name Mamie Larkin, born in Virigina (sic), cause of death cholera infantum, informant Claud Moore, Morehead, Ky, burial in Moore Cem.
The mother’s name is clearly recorded as Mamie (the M looks the same way it does in Morehead and Moore), but it is incorrect. Perhaps the registrar (Eva Caudill) either took down the names orally, and “Nannie Largin” sounded like “Mammie Larkin” to her, or else misread notes taken by someone else.
