His WW II draft registration card, filed 27 April 1942, records Farmer Alfrey, age 50, residence 413 W. 14th St., Anderson, Madison Co., Indiana, born 12 Sep 1891 in Cogswell, Ky, nearest relative Homer Alfrey, 18th & Brown Sts, Anderson, Ind, employer Idle Cigar Store, 939 Main St., Anderson, Ind.

The birthdate may be off by a year, since he was listed in the 1900 census as born Sep 1890.

In 1920 he was listed twice, once in Rowan Co. with his parents, as age 27, widowed, and once in Anderson, Madison Co., Indiana, as Farmer Alfrey, boarder, 27, single, laborer at factory, with the family of Thomas L. Clapp and Belle Parker (see their census notes for details), and three other Alfreys, including his brother Herbert.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 9, p. 222, records license issued on 17 June 1916 for Farmer Alfrey, age 24, born in and resident of Rowan Co., farmer, son of Fielding & Caroline Alfrey, to Nannie Howard, age 18, born in Morgan Co., resident of Rowan Co., daughter of Samuel L. & Paulina Howard, first marriage for both.
