Vanlandingham, born in Bath Co., residence Rowan Co. Although this record says 1878, it is probably really 1879. Besides that being the year reported on his draft card and death records, more telling is that he was recorded as age 1 in the 1880 census, taken in June, which would be unlikely for a child who was 2 1/2. These reports were compiled in the spring of each year for all births during the previous year, and often births that took place in Jan or Feb of the submission year were included in the report. The top of the page says “1878, 1879 Births”, and there are a few January 1879 births recorded on the page, such as James Henry Fraley b. 2 Jan 1879. So most likely it was one of those cases where somone has not yet got used to the new year and writes the date for the year just past.

His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Jeffy Burton Littleton, age 39, residence Robbins, Falmouth, Pendleton Co., Ky, born 8 Jan 1879, merchant, self-employed, nearest relative Stella May Littleton, same address.

The SSDI records Jeffie Littleton, born 8 Jan 1879, died Sep 1968, last residence Falmouth, Pendleton Co., Ky, SSN issued through the Railroad Board before 1951.

The Kentucky death index lists Jeffie B. Littleton, age 89, died 5 Sep 1968 in Pendleton Co., residence same.

The SSDI records Stella Littleton, born 5 Oct 1882, died Mar 1977, last residence Falmouth, Pendleton Co., Kentucky.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 3, p. 154, records the marriage on 22 Dec 1898 of Burton Littleton, age 19, farmer, residence Munson, born in and father born in Rowan Co., mother born in Fleming Co., to Stella M. Thomas, age 16, residence Munson, born in and father born in Nicholas Co., mother born in Bracken Co., at Sardis Church by A. P. Hurst, witnesses H. Galbraith and Joseph Littleton.

1900 census of Pendleton Co., Ky, McKennysburg precinct, enumerated 2 June, lists on p. 1B as family 18/20:
Lyttleton, Burton, 21, b. Jan 1879 (occupation blank); Stellie May, wife, 17, b. Oct 1882, married 1 year, 0 children. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

They are sharing a house with Stella’s parents, who are recorded as a separate family #18/19.

1910 census of Harrison Co., Ky, Richland district, enumerated 3 May, lists on pp. 14A-14B as family #204/214:
