HIs obituary in the Middletown Journal of Jan 9, 1942 reported:
“Elza P. Haney, 63, Dies Early Friday-
Illness for one year due to a heart ailment proved fatal to Elza P. Haney, 63, of 1612 Central Avenue. Mr. Haney succumbed in the Middletown Hospital, where he had been confined for two weeks, at 3am Friday.
Mr. Haney, a resident at the Harry Boswell home, was a night watchman for the Sorg Paper Company, having served since 1928. Prior to that time, he was a policeman for the American Rolling Mill Company.
He was a member of the Nazarene Church, and had lived here for 30 years. He came here from Kentucky.
Surviving is one son, Sargent Tom Haney, of Company I, 147 Infantry, Camp Shelby, Miss. The son was here a week ago, but was called back to service.
Funeral arrangements in charge of the Joseph R. Baker and Sons Funeral Home are incomplete pending the arrival of the son here Saturday.”

Her obituary in the Middletown Journal of Oct. 21, 1920 reported:
“Mrs. Ollie P. Haney, age 42 years, wife of Elva T. Haney, 1111 Baltimore Street, died Wednesday at Mayo Brothers Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota of goiter. She leaves besides her husband, a son Tom; her mother, Mrs. I. Rose; a sister, Mrs. Frank Fugett; and four brothers.
The body will be arriving in Middletown Friday for burial. Funeral announcements will be made later.”
