Notes for Henry Clay Rose
His obituary in the Licking Valley Courier of May 2, 1940 reported:
“Commonwealth's Attorney Henry C. Rose died of heart failure at the Murry Hospital in West Liberty on Monday evening, April 29.
Mr. Rose was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Rose, deceased. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nell Franklin Rose; five children, Henry Carr, Homer, Chester, Jerry Nell, and Johnny; four grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Rose was elected as commonwealth's attorney in 1933 to succeed Thom S. Yates. After serving a full term, he was renominated and reelected last year without opposition.
His sudden death cane as a severe shock, not only to the immediate family, but to to the entire community.
Funeral services were held yesterday at the Christian Church in West Liberty by Revs. Harlan Murphy and Kenneth Day. The Highland Lodge No. 311 F&AM took part in the services. Burial was in Salyer Cemetery.”
