His gravestone spells his given name as Mathias.
Be careful not to confuse him with Matthias Haller born 8 April 1839, died 10 Feb 1920 in Middletown, Ohio, son of John Haller, who married Salomina Jacobs, and is buried in Middletown Pioneer Cemetery.

Their son Jacob heads the family 2 households below, with a wife Grace. (I have not found their son Herman in the 1910 census. He was probably working out as a farmhand, and either recorded under the wrong surname, or skipped entirely because he was not considered a member of the household.)
