Gilbert Stephens, 91, b. Va; Nancy, 84, b. Va; Mary, 28, b. Ky; Gilbert, 12, b. Ky.
Mary is probably either a granddaughter or granddaughter-in-law of the older Gilbert and Nancy. It is unclear whether the younger Gilbert is Mary’s son or brother. The preceding household is headed by Stephen Stephens age 38 with wife Phebe age 34 and 9 children, and the following one is headed by Solomon Stephens, age 39, with wife Nancy age 36 and three sons. Other Stephens families on the preceding page include James Stephens age 81, b. Va, with wife Sarah age 52 and Malinda age 6; Daniel Stephens age 34 with wife Nancy age 28 and 7 children; and Jesse Stephens age 30 with wife Winney age 30 and four daughters.
The elder Gilbert Stephens was recorded in Morgan Co., Ky in 1830 and 1840, in Floyd Co., Ky in 1820, and in Knox Co., Ky in 1810.

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 14 Feb 1857 of Gilbert Stevens, age 21 (?), born in Hawkins Co., Tennessee (?), to Mary Jane Keeton, age 21 (?), born in Morgan Co., Ky, by R. Humphrey.
The birth place for Gilbert is dittoed from the line above, for the marriage of Jesse Burton and Margaret Skaggs. It is probable that the ditto marks were entered in error, with the clerk not noticing that the previous line wasn’t Morgan Co., since the censuses are consistent that Gilbert was born in Kentucky. (Even if I’ve misidentified Gilbert in the 1850 census, none of his daughters gave a father’s birthplace other than Ky in the 1880 and later censuses.) Much of the image is whited out, either faded or overexposed, making the ages difficult to read. The last digit of both ages might be something other than 1.
The column with the previous marital status for both spouses appears to contain just ditto marks from the “single” several lines above, but this is apparently a second marriage for Mary Jane, since the death records of her daughters Martha and Angeline both give her maiden name as Evans.

I cannot find this family in the 1860 census. (There is a Gilbert Stephens with wife Mary Ann (nee Fraley), but it would not be the same Gilbert Stephens, because he is still living with Mary Ann in 1870.)
