Notes for John W. Barber [Barbour]
John was recorded under the surname Barber in all of the censuses, and on all three of his marriage records. But his death certificate and gravestone are both under the spelling Barbour.

The Kentucky death index lists John W. Barbour, age 83, died 23 Jan 1959 in Rowan Co., residence same.
Notes for Laura Jane Hall
Index to Kentucky death records lists Laura H. Barker, d. 13 Mar 1983, age 93, in Rowan Co., residence same, certificate Vol. 15, #07122. (The H. probably stands for "Hall".)

Laura is buried with her first husband, John Barber/Barbour.
Notes for John W. & Laura Jane (Family)
Rowan Co. marriage book 7, p. 179, records the marriage on 2 June 1910 of John W. Barber, 34, s/o James & Sallie A. Barber, to Laura J. Hall, 20, d/o W. T. & Sarah R. Hall, at home of W. T. Hall by T. W. Rose, witnesses W. T. Hall, Sarah R. Hall, Wes Prater. It is recorded as his third marriage, her first.

Their surname is spelled as Barber in all the censuses from 1900 through 1940, but their gravestones in Brown Cemetery are under the spelling Barbour - John W. Barbour with the dates 1875 - 1959 and wife Laura H. Barbour with the dates 1889-1983. Either John changed the spelling of his last name sometime after 1940, or else their son Roger (who consistently used the spelling Barbour as an adult) spelled it that way on their death records and gravestones to match his own spelling.
Census
1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 12 Jan, lists on p. 2B as family #30:
Barber, J. W., 47, farmer; Laura, wife, 30; Marie, dau, 7; Roger William, son, 1. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The preceding household is headed by Laura’s parents W. T. and Sarah Hall. The following household is headed by John L. Barker, whom Laura would later marry after John Barber/Barbour died, with his first wife Minnie Mauk.

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 17 April, lists on p. 5A as family #97:
Barber, John, 55, age at first marriage 35, farmer; Laura, wife, 40, age at first marriage 20; Marie, dau, 17, married, age at first marriage 17; Rodger, son, 11; Howard, Orville, son-in-law, 24, age at first marriage 24; Hall, William T., father-in-law, 75, age at first marriage 18; Sarah, mother, 78, age at first marriage 20. All born Ky Ky Ky.

John Barber was really 20 when he married his first wife Mattie Brown; he appears to have interpreted the question as his age at the beginning of this marriage. His daughter Marie should be listed with the surname Howard, not Barber. And the relationship for Sarah Hall should be mother-in-law, not mother.

1940 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, ED 103-1A, enumerated 16 April, lists on p. 6A as family #99:
Barber, John, 65, occupation blank; Laura, wife, 50; Roger, son, 21, teacher at college, married; Katherine, dau, 16; Berneice, dau-in-law, 26, teacher at public school. All born in Kentucky, living in same place in 1935.

Note that the daughter Katherine did not appear in the 1930 census. I also cannot find her in the Kentucky birth index; I suspect the relationship is wrong.
