Notes for Albert David Hall
His WWI draft registration card, issued in 1917/1918 (the images on Ancestry do not show the side of the card that has the date it was filed), says Albert Hall, age 45, residence Morehead, Ky, born 4 Nov 1872 in Rowan Co., Ky, occupation farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Martha B. Hall.

Phil McBrayer's notes, based mostly on interviews with his father and other relatives, lists four marriages for Albert D. Hall: Millie Prather, Billie McClain, Mary Clinkenbeard, and Rachel Sloan, the latter noted as "Brit Sloan's widow, Jack's mother". Rowan County marriage records list the marriage to Millie Prather, which was apparently very brief. Belle was the mother of all of his children; Albert’s obituary refers to her as “Martha McClain”, and also mentions Rachel Sloan. I’ve found no official record of Mary Clinkenbeard (other than the 1930 census), nor have I found a date for the marriage to Rachel Fultz Sloan. It may have been in Elliott Co.

His obituary in the Rowan County News of Thursday, July 31, 1958, read “Albert Hall, Native Citizen, Dies at Age 87 - Funeral services for a pioneer Rowan County citizen, Albert Hall, were conducted at 11 o’clock Monday morning at Lane Funeral Home with interment in Lee Cemetery. Mr. Hall, 87 years of age, lived his entire life in the county. He was born near Morehead Nov. 4, 1870, son of the late George and Susan Hall. He had hundreds of close and distant relatives living in Rowan County.

Mr. Hall married Martha McClain, who passed away in 1922. They were the parents of the following six surviving children: Leslie Hall, Parkersburg, W. Va.; Mrs. Emma McKinney, Bangor; Mrs. Susanna McGuire, Manito, Okla.; Harry Hall, Dayton, O.; Mrs. Carrie Royse, Urbana, O.; and Mrs. Hannah Royse, Morehead. After the death of his first wife, he married Rachael Sloan, who survives. Other immediate survivors are 20 grandchildren.

Mr. Hall was a member of the Christian Church. Funeral services were conducted by Reverends Luther Bradley and Ted Greene.”
Notes for Millie Prather
Her death certificate records Millie Steagall, age 51 years 11 months 28 days, born 16 Aug 1878 in Kentucky, died 18 July 1929 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, married, wife of Bob Steagall, father Frank Prater, mother’s maiden name Annie Donhou, both born in Kentucky, cause of death tuberculoses of the intestins and longues, informant Bob Steagall, Morehead, Ky, burial in Bradley Cemetery.

Since she was listed as age 4 in the 1880 census, with two younger brothers listed as ages 3 and 2, she cannot have been born in 1878. The earliest possible date would be in 1876, and 1875 or 1874 is more likely. (She was listed as 35 in 1910, and 45 in 1920. I haven’t found her in 1900.)

There is no stone for her in Clearfield (Bradley) Cemetery under any of her many surnames, but there are many graves that are unmarked or marked only with blank stones.
Notes for Albert David & Millie (Family)
Rowan County Marriages Book 1, p. 41, lists marriage of Albert D. Hall to Millie Prarther, marriage performed by Wm T. Hall at Frank Prarther's, witnesses Ida Prarther, C. H. Hall. Both the space for the license date and the space for the marriage date just say "Nov 1891", no day. The next entry is also by Wm T. Hall, and is dated Nov 22. (Other records usually spell this surname as Prather, not Prarther.)

This marriage apparently ended in divorce, because Alfred remarried in 1893, and Millie remarried in 1897, still using her maiden name.
