Notes for Nancy Ann Auxier
The LDS Family Data Collection records the birth of Nancy Ann Auxier to Samuel Auxier and Sarah Brown on 20 July 1782 in Castlewood, Russell Co., Virginia. This data collection is based mostly on family group sheets submitted by church members. I do not know the original source, or if the date is reliable.
Notes for James Wallace & Nancy Ann (Family)
Their double gravestone in Brown Cemetery has the dates 1794-1862 for James, and 1796-1873 for Nancy. It is a modern stone, though, that appears from the style to have been erected in the 1950’s or later, probably to replace some earlier stones that had become worn. Either the birth dates on the original stone were misread, or whoever ordered the gravestones was very mistaken about their ages. In fact, it is probable that the 1862 death date for James is in error too, since he cannot be found in the 1860 census, when Nancy was listed as age 72 with their youngest son James.
