Her death certificate states Nannie Jones, age 75, born 1843 in Ky, died 6 Apr 1918 in Forge Hill precinct, Bath Co., Ky, father William Riddle, mother’s name unknown, informant John K. Jones, Owingsville, Ky, burial in Old Virginia graveyard. (The cause of death is very hard to read, but involves some kind of carcinoma.)

The date of birth in this database is from her gravestone.

It is somewhat curious that her husband gave the wrong name for her father, but Robert Riddle died when Nannie was only 10, and her older brother William was the male head of household at the time that Nancy and John were married. (See the 1860 and 1870 census readings.) It is even more curious that he did not report her mother’s name, since Lucinda was living in 1870. But perhaps his memory was failing by that time. I’ve interviewed quite a few elderly relatives who could not tell me the names of their parents-in-law.

I cannot find this family in 1870.

1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precint, enumerated 11 June, lists on p. 13 as family #115/119:
Jones, John K., 35, farmer; Nancy, 35, wife; Mary C., 14, dau; James R., 13, son; Orra J., 11, dau; Samuel, 6, son; Addie Lewis, 3, son. All born Ky Ky Ky except John’s father, who was listed as born in Virginia, although that conflicts with other records.

1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precinct, enumerated 5 June, lists on p. 3A as family #50:
Jones, John K., 55, b. March 1845, farmer, b. Ky Va Ky; Nancy, wife, 55, b. Jan 1845, married 35 years, mother of 6 children, 5 living; Samuel, son, 27, b. Mar 1873, widowed; Olly C., dau, 4, b. Dec 1895. All except John born Ky Ky Ky.

The next two households are their sons James and Addie. Addie also has a daughter Olly C. born Dec 1895, who is very likely the same child, listed both with her parents and grandparents.
