The reported birthdate conflicts with the 1880 census, where he was listed as age 13, suggesting a birthdate about 1867, and the 1900 census, where he was recorded as age 33, born Apr 1867. I cannot find the John K. Jones family in 1870 to see whether he was listed then or not, but the preponderance of the evidence is for 1867.

Be careful not to confuse him with Robert Jones (1867-1952), who is buried in Bailey Cemetery in Owingsville and whose wife was also named Liza.
