Notes for Dr. John McCormick
According to Keith Laws, John McCormick studied medicine at Dublin Institute, and immigrated from Ireland ca 1730-1740, settling in Jefferson Co., VA. Jefferson Co., VA, however, was formed in 1801 from Berkeley Co., VA. Berkeley Co. was formed from Frederick Co. VA in 1772. Both are now in the northeast spur of WV, adjacent to what remains of Frederick Co. VA. So Mr. Laws must mean that John McCormick settled in the part of then Frederick Co., VA that is now Jefferson Co., WV.

The sons are in batch 7203801, p. 65, film 820198, the daughters in batch 7526524, p. 66, film 884629.
