The Social Security Death index lists Cecil Gregory, b. 8 Feb 1912, d. Feb 1984, SSN 403-05-0279 issued in KY, last residence in Morehead, KY.
His obituary in the Rowan County News of Feb. 23, 1984 reported “Henry Cecil Gregory, 72, of Rt. 4, died Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Claire Medical Center.
A native of Rowan County, he was the son of the late Taylor and Dora Phillips Gregory. Mr. Gregory was a member of the Church of God and was a retired employee of Lee Clay Products Company, Clearfield, where he worked 46 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lenola Brown Gregory; four sons, Harlan Gregory, Gary Lee Gregory and Ronnie Dean Gregory, all of Morehead, and Kenneth Gregory, Denton, Ky; four daughters, Dora Haney, Marie Petitt and Janette McKinney, all of Morehead, and Janice Medley, Farmers.
Also a brother, Allen Gregory, Morehead, a sister, Sada Ginter, Desours, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with the Rev. Russell Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Clearfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Roger Gregory, Mike Gregory, Tony Petitt, Terry McKinney, Raymond Waddell, Ricky Brown, Glenn Murphy and Ray Keeton.”
The Kentucky birth index lists Lenola Brown, born 10 Apr 1919 in Rowan Co., mother’s maiden name Laura Sweeney.
I checked all the Rowan Co. marriage books between 1934 and 1940, and could not find a record for this marriage. They may have been married in another county.

Gregory, Cecil, 28, operator of dump tory; Lenola, wife, 21; Dora, dau, 5; Harlan, son, 3; Kenneth, son, 1. All born in Kentucky, living in Rowan Co. but not same house in 1935.
