(Be careful not to confuse him with Stephen Brewer born 9 Dec 1858 in Breathitt Co., son of Lewis Brewer and Nancy McDaniels. They were both in Wolfe Co. by 1870.)
His death certificate records Stephen M. Brewer, age 83 years 2 months 26 days, born 13 July 1843 in Campton, Ky, died 29 July 1926 in Middletown, Butler Co., Ohio, residence 610 Malvern Ave., married, husband of Jennie Brewer, father Thos. Brewer, born in N. Carolina, mother’s maiden name unknown, cause of death mitral insufficiency, informant Jennie Brewer, same address, burial in Slade, Ky.

The preceding household is headed by Green Brewer, age 40 corrected to 39, b. Nov 1860, a probable brother.
This whole precinct has ages in ink that are usually too high by one year when the birthdate is in the latter part of the year, and corrections in pencil to be consistent with the reported birthdate, as if the ages were reconciled at the same time the statistical annotations about family size were made. However, it may well be the case that in many families the ages were actually the correct part, and the birth year what should have been corrected.
