Donald L. Jones of Marion, IN, ran a query in the June 1994 issue of The East Kentuckian saying in part "seeking info concerning my Gfather, David M. Jones, m. to Anna (Foster) Jones. He d abt 1906/1907 and buried in the Jones Cemetery on Lower Licking Fork, Rowan Co., KY. He had 2 known brothers, William who lived near the Licking R. & Owingsville, KY, and Green who lived in Morehead, KY." Most information on the children and grandchildren of David M. Jones, as well as the death dates of David and Annie Jones, is from correspondence with Donald (he is a son of Claude.) He says his father, Claude Jones, told him that his parents had two more children besides the 8 surviving, who died at birth or shortly thereafter. He is not sure of their names but thinks they may have been Carmen and William.

Anna was listed as age 11 in the 1880 census, but there is no daughter of that name nor any daughter age 1 or 2 in the 1870 census. She is probably the daughter listed as Lucinda age 4 in the 1870 census, because in 1880 she is recorded as older than her brother James William, who was definitely born in April 1870. (The alternative would be that the daughter Lucinda died young, and Anna was born in 1871, recorded as older than her true age and and out of birth order in 1880.)

Rowan Co., KY, marriage register Vol. A (1882-1913) lists on p. 78, D. M. Jones m. Anie Foster, 11 June 1886.

Note that David Jones and Anne Foster were first cousins, since David's father and Anne's mother were brother/sister.

1900 census of Rowan Co., Pearce prec., June 8, lists on p. 6B as family #106:
David M. Jones, 34, b. Feb 1866; wife Annie, 29, b. Mar 1871; married 13 yrs, 9 children, 8 living; son Leslie, 12; b. May 1888; son Claudie, 9, b. Apr 1891; dau. Maudie, 6, b. Jan 1894; son Dillard, 5, b. May 1895; dau. Audie, 3, b. Apr 1897; son William 1, b. Jan 1899; boarder Thomas Foster, 18, b. Jan 1882, farm laborer. (Note that only 6 children are listed, although 8 are said to be living.) Most of the birthdates do not match the dates given to me by Donald L. Jones, son of Claude Jones. I am using the dates from Donald because the 1900 census of Rowan Co. is very unreliable on birthdates.3
